Sonic Destruction

Based on the RAT made famous by countless bands over the decades, the Drone Master is a heavy-laden drone-filled take on the classic circuit. Brutally high gain, different clipping options, and added mid scoop/boost toggle make the Drone Master a perfect addition to any pedalboard.

Two toggles give a total of 4 different modes. The left toggle chooses between a mid scoop or a mid boost akin to the Fuzzlord FU-2, while the right toggle chooses between silicon diode clipping (stock) and a much louder and compressed LED clipping mode that provides a volume boost.

 

Controls

LEVEL: Overall output level. Counter-clockwise for less, clockwise for more.

FILTER: Treble-cut tone control to tame any harsh top-end. Clockwise for unfiltered, counter-clockwise for more treble cut.

GAIN: Amount of gain in the circuit. Counter-Clockwise for overdrive-like tones, clockwise for all out sonic destruction.

Toggle 1: Mid boost/scoop control. Up for mid scoop, down for stock.

Toggle 2: Silicon/LED clipping control. Down for Silicon (stock), Up for LED.

    Not quite as good as top name brands but pretty decent so far for the money

    I compare these to the Columbia version with similar design. I ordered the large, which is my Columbia size. I note that the Amazon version was slightly tighter in the waist and the lining was significantly tighter in the legs. The elastic bands are both well structured and not flimsy. I live in Florida and I wear these swim trunks as my everyday outdoor shorts, whether working in the yard, biking, walking, or whatever. I note that when I tried to wear these in my exercise classes, the legs tend to stick and not slide up the legs when I squat, which is not a problem with the Columbia shorts. Lest you think it unfair to compare these two brands, Columbia puts their shorts on sale a couple of times a year for about the same price. Of course, you have to pay attention regularly to their website and it doesn't help if you need shorts now. I will continue to use these shorts for outdoor work and activities and they seem to be holding up fine for now. Next time I will probably get the XL for comfort if Columbia doesn't have a big sale (unless I can manage to lose a little visceral fat I have collected the last few years!). One other positive and one negative. I like that the black shorts have a black tie string, but the blue pants have a white string which shows dirt and looks a bit cheaper than if the string was blue. White is fine for swim trunks, but when they are used as all purpose volley shorts it doesn't show well with white string. I saw some complaints in the comments saying these shorts were not quick drying. I note they are every bit as fast drying as my Columbia and Nike shorts which are advertised as quick drying. As you might imagine a few hours working in the Florida sun I can sweat a ton so I can certainly judge drying speed.
